In the end Alan admits to his wife he hasnt been open with her and apologizes and Charlie admits to his in-laws that he does remember his family but its hard for him. Personally , I dont admit the heros backpack school of thought , because we have people who can help us for these weights , it is just about whether you want to be alone or not ? if you want to be alone all these stuffs in your life becomes weight for you.
